What Trainings do you need?

You can find out what specific trainings you need, when they need to be completed, available participation options, prerequisites and costs on the GSOSW website for new volunteers, outdoor activities, CPR/first aid and many more.

 

Trainings for new volunteers and Leaders

You’ve completed the first step by registering on the national website and completing your background check. Now there are a few online trainings that are necessary before you begin meeting with girls.

1.     _____ Arrange for an informal training with your Volunteer Mentor. Click here to Email them!

2.     _____ Complete the online GS101 training

3.     _____ Complete the online Volunteer Essentials Training

4.     _____ Complete the online Safety Training

5.     _____ Complete the online Troop Finance Training

Tip: We have found that some of the online trainings do not support mobile devices (tablets, smartphone). Use a laptop or desktop computer for these trainings.

 

Online Trainings for new Troop Leaders

New Troop Leaders, Now that you have completed your beginning trainings - let’s look at what is next!

1.     _____ Your troop will automatically be in the system so that girls around the area may join you (the troop size automatically caps at 12). If there are parents you were working with to have their girls in your troop, contact them with your troop number and have them register at www.girlscoutsows.org

2.     _____ Plan and schedule your parent meeting (you may collect registration forms and checks and turn them into the registrar). Email the meeting date, time and location to the Volunteer Mentors. We will try to attend to support you!

3.     _____ Choose your troop meeting location, day, and time.

4.     _____ Contact the Treasurer to open a bank account.

5.     _____ Complete the Day Trips and CPR/First Aid training; this is necessary if you ever plan on leaving your meeting place, such as field trips.

7.     _____ Attend the next Volunteer Leader meeting. Meetings are held monthly on the second Thursday 7pm-8:30pm, see calendar for location >
